Tucson Electric Park Mural Contest
In February, Tucson Electric Park asked for submissions for a Mural Contest. The theme of Mark McGwire hitting 70 home runs was selected because it was the most memorable event of the 1998 season, breaking Roger Maris' record of 61 home runs.
Michael Clifford designed the lettering and did most of the layout. Violet Coronado assisted in the drawing phase and outlined most of Mark McGwire's clothes. Rachel Brelsford did the detail painting and was able to get quite a likeness of Mark McGwire's face.
Mrs. Conant's home room class (see below) painted in the background and filled in the letters. It was a team effort.
